Signing Up for a Meal Plan
Meal plans are available to all students.
(Charger Pride is required for all freshman first-year students who live on campus)
Students who live on campus can choose from Charger Pride, Charger Gold, Charger Blue, or the Senior Plan. Students can sign up or change their meal plan via myHousing during the room selection process. All first year freshman students who reside on campus must posses Charger Pride. For more information about dining options, please contact the Office of Residential Life at ResLife@newhaven.edu.
Note: Resident students at the commencement of every semester, are granted a one-week grace period to login and modify their plan once.
Students who live off Campus can sign up for any of the meal plans listed on this page by clicking HERE. Please allow 24 hours for the plan to be added to your Charger Card. The charge for the plan will be added to your student account prior to the next billing date, those who do elect to purchase a meal plan must re-enroll for each semester that they want a meal plan. The eAccounts page allows students to check their meal plan, Dining Dollars, Charger Cash and printing balance, as well as add Charger Cash to their account. eAccounts also allows students to view their transaction history and deactivate lost Campus Cards.

You can easily add money to your ID card, known as Charger Cash. This way, you can conveniently use the preloaded funds to buy food and drinks at various retail spots across the campus and use at our dining halls.

Meal Equivalency
Meal equivalency allows you to convert a meal swipe into a dollar credit, which can then be used to make purchases at select retail locations within our network.
Who accepts meal equivalency?
Moes & Wow - Meal swipes are accepted:
- Monday – Thursday: 4:30pm - 9:00pm
- Friday: 4:30pm - 8:00pm
- Saturday & Sunday: 4:00pm - 8:00pm
1 meal swipe = a $7.50 meal equivalency. If the student's total amount owed is greater than $7.50, students can use their available dining dollars to pay the remaining balance (Dining Dollars vary according to meal plans). If dining dollars are not available, credit card and cash are accepted.
If you wish to use the meal equivlancy credit, you must select it from the "Meal Equivalency" menu.
Food Truck Swipes
Your meal plan includes 2 food truck swipes weekly plus an additional $50 dining plus dollars to be used at food trucks every semester. Your 2 food truck swipes begin on a Friday and end on Thursday of the following week. You can always check your food truck swipe balance on the transact E accounts app

Simple Servings - Allergen Safe Dining Option - Located in Marketplace
Simple Servings is an award-winning, open-to-all, dining platform that offers fresh, flavorful meals prepared without the most common allergens, which account for 90% of all food allergy reactions. Dishes at Simple Servings are prepared without milk, eggs, wheat, soy, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, and gluten.
Simple Servings acts as a bridge to help students transition from the safety of home, where all allergens are strictly excluded, to dining on their own in an environment that requires careful attention to the choices they make. In addition, knowledgeable and attentive staff members are available to discuss ingredients and answer questions. Menus are labeled accurately and made available online and through mobile applications. By providing these enhanced resources, we want to ultimately help students learn to advocate for themselves and obtain the information they need.
Simple Zone
Simple Zone is an enclosed pantry where food items can be housed with precautions against cross-contact. This space is reserved for students with food allergies/intolerances/sensitivities or Celiac disease and includes foods prepared without gluten, peanuts, and tree nuts. Simple Zone features a dedicated refrigerator, freezer, toaster, toaster oven, microwave and more.To access the closed Simple Zone area, you must have authorized access added to your Charger ID card.
